ROTHWELL Civic Hall is a centrally located public building that Leeds City Council want to sell.
Once sold the local community will receive 20 per cent of the proceeds back and the remaining 80 per cent wil revert to the central LCC account.
On Friday interested parties met local representatives to discuss options.
They agreed to investigate the opion of taking it into a community asset so that people and businesses in Rothwell could benefit more directly.
The chances of it being successfully transferred to community use stand a better chance with cross party support, rather than some councillors saying it is ‘not fit for use’.
Coun Stewart Golton, Lib Dem Leader on LCC has been leading the fight in association with Rothwell Neighbourhood Community Forum to retain it for the area and find out what people in the town would like to see it used for.
