It's a scruffy old pit site!

You're doing your area no favours by objecting to this development as it will eventually be built on and your constituents might end up with something much less palatable than a well designed distribution centre and a world class sports complex.

Nonsense,Typical Libconservadem, bold statements no substance/evidence to support.Your reluctance to mention any positive effect on the area such as local employment makes your true nimby position wholly transparent.Your party were quick off the mark to reach a compromise with the conservatives, suggest you do the same here and look for compromise instead of outright dismissal or do you not accept that this area needs employment.

I must say that I fully agree with Cllr Stewart but in a much wider way than he himself has stated, not only must the objectors keep a close eye on developments here but all people in the 5 towns and some parts of Leeds because if this development does go ahead the ramifications for the whole district will be enormouse. We will see a huge chunk of greenbelt land (which is in short supply anyway in this area) lost and be taken up by unsightlly tin units, we could see an increased risk of flooding from the river Aire, as rain water will no longer soak away into the land and will have to run off somewhere, we will see wildlife erased from the map and we will see traffic mutiply maybe tenfold (and remember this is the strech of road that leads to Pinderfields hospital, so we could be talking the difference between life and death. All the above mentioned points are just about the industrial side of the development which for some reason seems never to be talked about, all we here about is a new stadium for the Wildcats (talk about how to sweeten the pot) . So I would advise anyone who has not done so yet to raise any concerns they have with their local councilor and find out what they can do to stand against what could be a disaster waiting to happen.

The only use of green field land to my knowledge is for the stadium.
The haulage and distribution land is already in wakefields plans for development .
It all sounds like scaremongering to me.

I understand Leeds is having to close 6 residential homes in it's region. Considering Leeds is the second largest council in the UK - could someone tell me why 2 (two) of these homes have been targeted in Rothwell? Why have we been hit so drastically? Rothwell has always been sore point for Leeds, we 'had' good amenities until they started to take everything from us...now they are going one step too far...
